The AUS Library is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Electronic Resources Librarian to join its service-oriented team. The successful candidate will work closely with library colleagues to provide an integrated approach to the management and delivery of the library’s electronic resources.

Primary responsibilities include: acquisitions, licensing, implementation, assessment and ongoing maintenance of the online collections; managing the ERM system; cataloging and coordinating bibliographic records between the ERM, Serials Solutions and the Millennium catalog; troubleshooting problems arising from subscription, licensing or access-related technical issues including link resolution and federated searching; collecting and analyzing database usage statistics.

Required

An ALA-accredited MLS degree with minimum of 3 years experience.

Knowledge of operating systems in both server and desktop environments; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; superior technology skills with openness to emerging technologies. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.

Candidates must have ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely and independent manner.

Preferred

·       Familiarity with ERM standards such as OpenURL, COUNTER, SUSHI

• Knowledge of metadata standards and formats including MARC, Dublin Core, AACR2, RDA, LCSH

• Working knowledge of Javascript, XML, HTML, CSS , Web 2.0 and web development tools

The University of Texas at San Antonio Library seeks to hire a motivated individual to serve as Electronic Resources Coordinator. This position resides in the Electronic Resources Unit of the Acquisitions Department.  Reporting to the Head of Electronic Acquisitions and Serials Control, this librarian will provide leadership and professional expertise in the management and coordination of library electronic resources. S/he will supervise four Library Assistants.  

Required Qualifications: 

MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program. Three years of professional experience in collection development, serials acquisitions, and/or systems with one year of experience in electronic resources management, including knowledge of licensing issues, access provision, and troubleshooting. 

Two years of supervisory experience.

The Research Library at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C., is seeking an Electronic Resources Librarian.

This position is available due to the retirement of a much-valued staff member.  The position is designed to meet the Board’s need for support in assessing, negotiating for, and acquiring data and electronic resources to

meet time-sensitive research needs.   The selectee will also serve as part

of the Research Library’s reference team, providing research assistance to Board staff.

 

The Mission

The Environment

 

The Research Library offers a full array of desktop and customized library services to the 2,000 staff members at the Board. Over 200 of the Board’s staff are PhD economists, and many more support the research process.  This is a concentration of economic expertise exceeding that of most other institutions.  Over 82% of the staff in the three primary research divisions are library customers.  Research at the Board is data intensive and Internet dependent.  The Research Library has a staff of eleven.

 

The Position

 

The Electronic Resources Librarian position is one of two positions working with Board staff to identify and acquire data and electronic resources to meet time-sensitive research needs.  The librarian will inform and contribute to the assessment and acquisitions process by conducting evaluations, participating in negotiations, reviewing site licenses and agreements, serving as a liaison to offices involved in the acquisitions process, and by guiding the acquisitions process to the point of activation.  The Electronic Resources Librarian will work to raise awareness of the resources acquired, arrange for vendor training and oversee renewal audit activities. Many of the contracts for data and resources involve multiple divisions at the Board; some are consortial agreements including Federal Reserve Bank Libraries.  The appointee also will assist existing reference staff in providing financial and economic research assistance to Board staff and may serve as a liaison to divisions in the organization.

 

The Electronic Resources Librarian reports to the Chief Librarian; the position is non-supervisory.

 

The successful applicant will have an MLS degree and experience in acquiring and managing data and electronic resources, in negotiating, and in reviewing agreements.  Applicants need 2 or 3 years of experience in managing electronic resources, depending on the level hired at.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.  Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, sound judgment, and initiative are required. Specific knowledge of resources in the fields of business, banking, finance, and economics is desirable.

 

The position is being advertised at both the FR-24 ($61,450-$92,180) and

LAC is seeking candidates for immediate consideration for the position of Processing Supervisor to work on a contract position at an academic library in New Orleans, LA. The primary role of the Processing Supervisor is to oversee the workflow in the Processing Area and to develop and oversee the procedures for the processing function areas supervised.  The Processing Supervisor has oversight of the Processing Area, which includes Bindery, Processing, and Shelving with inputs from Acquisitions, Cataloging, and special HTML projects. The Processing Supervisor reports directly to the Project Manager and supervises the Processing Team staff members.

Primary Responsibilities

This list represents the primary duties and responsibilities of the position and is not intended to be all-inclusive. 

·         Supervise Processing Area staff (currently Processing staff includes one Shelving Supervisor, one Processing Technician, three Library Assistants, and two Labeling Clerks).

·         Set daily assignments and priorities for all staff in processing area.

·         Provide oversight for Belfor reinstatement portion of the project.

·         Coordinate processing with both Cataloging and Acquisitions Teams.

·         Provide oversight for Government Documents sorting, shelving, and basic inventory of items being withdrawn from the collection.

·         Train new Processing staff members and ensure their following of established procedures.

·         Provide ongoing quality control (QC) to ensure that all processed materials accurately follow our client’s processing documentation.

·         Trouble-shoot problems, and handle difficult or problematic items including obtaining and implementing judgments as to best practices for unique items.

·         Perform standard processing and/or labeling tasks to maintain workflow, as is necessary.

·         Provide semi-monthly reports to LAC Project Manager regarding work and progress made by Processing Area staff.

·         Write and maintain procedure manuals for assigned special projects and for specific tasks.

·         Prepare shipments to HTML and oversee remote shelving.

·         Participate in meetings with our client’s principal points of contact, as needed, with regards to updates on the Processing Area.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Minimum 2 years of experience working in a library setting performing tasks related to circulation, shelving, or physical processing.

·         Prior supervisory experience, and an effective management style.

·         Prior experience training and orienting employees.

·         Ability to use metrics effectively and to link staff duties to project goals.

·         Ability to work in a production-driven environment with constantly shifting priorities and demands.
