York University Libraries are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic individual for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian in the Bibliographic Services Department. This is a tenure-track position for a librarian with up to nine years post-MLS experience. The Electronic Resources Librarian will provide leadership and expertise in the effective acquisition, management and promotion of electronic collections for the Libraries. Working closely with the Associate University Librarian for Collections, the successful candidate will monitor trends and developments in electronic resources, collaborate with subject specialist/liaison librarians to identify potential new acquisitions, work with publishers and vendors to coordinate trials, and solicit and evaluate user feedback. In collaboration with library colleagues, the incumbent will develop and implement a dynamic promotion plan for the York community that raises awareness of and increases use of electronic collections. He/she will also develop and implement qualitative assessment measures, analyze and disseminate usage data, and prepare reports to assist in timely collections decision-making. The incumbent will assist in troubleshooting, responding to user inquiries and following up on access and maintenance problem resolution. He/she will participate in library-wide committees and will represent the Libraries at regional, provincial and national consortia (e.g. OCUL), organizations and initiatives.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a knowledgeable and service-oriented individual for this core new position which will lead the newly formed E-Resources & Serials Management (ESM) Department. The creation of this new department provides exciting opportunities to influence the future direction of the University Library. The individual chosen will manage, coordinate, and support the acquisition, processing, and continued access to electronic resources and serials in support of user needs and the Library’s goals. The department manages expenditures of approximately $5,000,000 annually for continuing resources. The E-Resources & Serials Management Department acquires electronic resources (including e-journals, databases, and e-books on a subscription basis), print plus online serials, and print serials. The ESM Department places the orders, claims outstanding materials, receives the material or notification of access, and processes invoices for payment. Ordering includes the negotiation of licenses and business models with vendors. The ESM Department catalogs and maintains access to these materials – handling title reconciliation, usage statistics, and general troubleshooting for electronic resources as well as binding and maintaining detailed holdings records for print serials.

The project is anticipated to start in early September and go through the end of the year. This is temporary project with full-time, regular business hours. There will be a professional Librarian and Library Technician working on this project, which involves re-cataloging serial titles that had been added in the system as monographs, creating a purchase order, and then creating and filling out the check-in record. The work is anticipated to be done on site at our client’s organization in Washington, DC.
