Minnesota State University, Mankato Memorial Library seeks a flexible, innovative, service-oriented individual to serve as Acquisitions Librarian in the newly formed Technical Services unit. This position works in close collaboration with the other technical service librarians and staff for the successful acquisitions of print, non-print, and electronic resource materials for the Library’s collections. A primary focus for this position is the management of over 250 electronic resources. Responsibilities include managing the library’s materials budget in close collaboration with the Dean of Library Services; assigning funding codes; monitoring and reporting on account balances and expenditures using the ALEPH Acquisitions Module; establishing and maintaining effective vendor relations, monitoring vendor performance, and identifying new vendor sources; collaborating with electronic resources librarian to manage and evaluate database trials; negotiating license terms, pricing, and maintenance for electronic resources and verifying access to electronic subscriptions; and providing leadership in the management of the Electronic Resource Management System. All library faculty serve on teams as a subject liaison to one or more disciplines/programs, with responsibility for collection development and library instruction sessions, and share in weekend reference responsibilities and introductory library instruction sessions.

The Resource Description Coordinator is a member of a dynamically-evolving Digital and Technology Services Department and assumes overall responsibility for cataloging policy and production. The Resource Description Unit is one of three primary units within Technical Services, and is responsible for describing and providing access to serial and monographic content in all formats. MARC and Non-MARC catalog records are created in this unit, keeping pace with shifting library priorities. The Resource Description Coordinator reports to the Head of Technical Services, who in turn reports to the Associate University Librarian for Digital Initiatives and Technical Services. This position is part of the Technical Services Management Team which coordinates departmental policies, procedures and workflows.

Columbus State University Libraries is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, service-oriented individual to serve as electronic resources and systems librarian. Duties focus on oversight of the libraries’ computer technology environment and include providing advice, guidance and information on library computer technology needs; computer troubleshooting within the libraries; administering the library management system (Voyager); maintenance of the libraries’ web site; handling of licensing, installation and implementation of electronic resources, and training of library faculty and others in the use of same; and compilation of statistics. The electronic resources and systems librarian works closely with all library departments and the campus computing center on a wide variety of projects. This librarian also serves as liaison to the Departments of Computer Science and Computer Information Systems Management (CISM). In this capacity, he/she performs collection development and collaborates with departmental faculty to offer relevant information literacy instruction to Computer Science and CISM students. The electronic resources and systems librarian also provides assistances at the main library’s Information Commons for a few hours a week (daytime only).
