An excellent opportunity exists for an energetic and innovative faculty librarian to provide leadership in the organization of the Library’s resources within the Library catalog, including exploration of next-generation library catalogs. The Cataloging Librarian is instrumental in developing and implementing goals, policies, and quality assurance procedures for bibliographic control of the HS/HSL collection. As a participant in the Library’s team oriented environment, the Cataloging Librarian considers issues affecting the library’s intellectual organization of information such as the application of metadata analysis to the library’s digital content.  As the Library investigates and moves forward with digital repository efforts, the Librarian will have significant involvement.  The successful candidate also represents and advocates for the Library’s needs in the University System of Maryland’s consortial cataloging environment, collaborates with other division librarians, serves on committees and teams, and is active professionally.  Reporting to the Associate Director for Resources, the Cataloging Librarian is a hands-on cataloger who creates original and adapts existing catalog records for materials in multiple formats, and supervises one serials cataloger and one cataloging technician.
