The Eugene Public Library is seeking a forward-thinking, collaborative professional to join our management team and assume the role of planning, organizing and supervising the operations of the Technical Services work unit. The successful candidate will be skilled and experienced in the oversight of automated acquisitions, cataloging, and physical processing of materials, and in leading union-represented staff.
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for participating in the development of the Library Division’s vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with the City of Eugene’s vision. This position works collaboratively with others to coordinate and participate in the development of the Library Division’s goals and work plan. This position manages and mentors 8.5 FTE represented staff.

Minimum Requirements:
* This position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional library experience, including one year of required supervisory experience in a library setting.
* Possession of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association-accredited college or university.

Responsibilities include the staffing of a central support center that provides a single point of contact for customers seeking consultation, training, and technical support assistance.
MOBIUS is a consortium of Missouri college and university libraries, public libraries and the Missouri State Library. Serving more than 750,000 students, faculty, and staff at 60 institutions, MOBIUS’s membership also includes 2 public libraries and the Missouri State Library. The largest single project for which MOBIUS is responsible is the Common Library Platform (CLP). The CLP creates a virtual collection of the more than 20 million items contained in the libraries of MOBIUS member institutions and creates a single user interface that allows patrons to request library materials using any personal computer in any location with access to the Internet. Requested materials are delivered within one or two days of being requested by the MOBIUS Delivery System. MOBIUS has an active program of consortial licensing of electronic information resources such as electronic journals. In 2006 MOBIUS started a cooperative collection development project.
The National Library of Medicine has an opening for an Acquisitions Librarian in the Serial Records Section of the Technical Services Division. The Serial Records Section is responsible for acquiring and managing over 20,000 print and electronic subscriptions for biomedical serials from over 150 different countries in support of NLM’s mission to build and preserve a comprehensive biomedical collection.
